The East Clare Championship Golf Course is a golf course with a difference. It was designed by noted golf architect Dr. Arthur Spring and opened in 1997. Set in approximately 150 acres of quiet countryside in East Clare the design objective was minimal disturbance of the unspoilt natural landscape and its rich flora and fauna. The result is a golf course with diverse and abundant wildlife; including foxes, hares, swans, duck, buzzards etc. In early summer the cuckoo sings herself to a standstill in competition with the skylark which can chirp for half an hour 100 metres above your head. When you play East Clare you experience an inescapable feeling of closeness to nature; peacefulness and tranquillity and a complete absence of traffic noise, overhead power lines etc. A round of golf in East Clare provides a pleasant escape from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives.
East Clare is located within 10 minutes’ drive of Lough Derg and is no more than 35/40 minutes from Limerick or Shannon. The golf course (Par 71 Men/Par 72 Ladies) presents a comprehensive range of golfing challenges. Each hole sets a different challenge with strategically placed hazards viz. trees, bunkers, lakes and streams. However, the placement of the different colour Tees ensures that the course is amenable to all Handicap levels. Fairways are wide and greens are generously proportioned. The course is playable all year round and in East Clare you are never required to tee from a mat or play to a temporary green.
Come to East Clare for a great round of golf and to unwind from the cares of the world.
